Why choose this course

Rediscovering the meaning of the body

An integral vision of the person and love

John Paul II’s Theology of the Body offers an original key to understanding the human person, embodiment, love and the vocation to relationship.

The course introduces the main anthropological and biblical foundations of this perspective, helping to overcome a dualistic view that separates body and spirit and to rediscover the person as a unity.

Particular attention is given to spousal love, the redemption of the heart and the Theology of the Body understood as a true pedagogy of the body, deeply connected to the theology of the family.

1
Unit 1

Anthropological foundations of love

The first unit introduces the pathway’s foundational text: John Paul II’s Catecheses on Human Love.

These provide the starting point for exploring the main anthropological and biblical concepts that underpin the Theology of the Body.

2
Unit 2

The body and embodiment

The second unit explores the meaning of embodiment through the history of thought on the body, with particular attention to dualistic interpretations.

The pathway also examines the role of the body in biblical language and the value of embodiment according to the Magisterium.

3
Unit 3

Redemption of the heart and conjugal love

The third unit addresses the redemption of the heart and conjugal love.

Particular attention is given to adultery of the heart as a starting point for exploring the meaning of spousal love.

4
Unit 4

Pedagogy of the body

The final unit presents the Theology of the Body as a true pedagogy of the body, rooted in the theology of the family.

It explores the Magisterium’s teaching on the transmission of life and the value of chastity within the vocation to love.
